Publication Ethics

JOPE is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics. This journal follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) — the international body that sets standards for ethical academic publishing. Authors, reviewers, and editors are required to adhere to these standards throughout the publication process. For full guidelines visit cope.org.

Plagiarism Policy

All submissions are screened for plagiarism prior to review. Manuscripts must be original and must not have been published or submitted elsewhere. Any paper found to contain plagiarized content will be immediately rejected. Accepted papers with a similarity index above 20% will be returned to authors for revision before proceeding to production.

Retraction Policy

Articles may be retracted if serious errors, ethical violations, or plagiarism are discovered after publication. Retracted articles remain on the site with a clear retraction notice and the reason for retraction stated. Authors, readers, or editors may request a retraction by contacting the editor at [email protected].

Author Responsibilities

Authors must ensure that submitted work is original, properly cited, and free from fabrication or falsification of data. All co-authors must have contributed meaningfully to the work. Authors must disclose any competing interests. If none exist, please state: "The authors declare no competing interests."

Is there a publication fee?
No. JOPE charges no Article Processing Charges (APC) for all submissions until December 31, 2028. Authors pay nothing to submit or publish.
Will my paper be peer reviewed?
Yes. Submissions first go through an admin check for completeness and template compliance, then an Associate Editor (AE) assesses scope and quality. If suitable, the paper is sent to at least 2 peer reviewers. Papers that do not meet scope or quality requirements may be rejected or returned at the AE stage. The final decision is based on reviewer feedback.
How long does the review process take?
Admin check: 1–2 days  ·  AE assessment: ~1 week  ·  Peer review: 3–4 weeks  ·  Final decision: weeks 4–5 from submission.
Can I join the editorial or reviewer team?
The journal is actively seeking experienced researchers with strong profiles to join the editorial team. Visit the Journal Open Group main page for more information.
Who holds the copyright?
Authors retain copyright. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) open access license, allowing free sharing and adaptation with proper attribution.
Is JOPE indexed in Scopus?
Not at this stage. For a journal to be considered for Scopus indexing, it must demonstrate at least 2 years of consistent publications. After meeting this requirement, the journal is submitted to Scopus, which independently evaluates it and makes the final indexing decision. The JOPE editorial team plans to submit to Scopus after completing 2 years of publishing.
Can I share or post my published paper?
Yes. Authors are encouraged to share and post the final published PDF freely — on personal websites, institutional repositories, ResearchGate, Academia.edu, or any platform.
What file format and template should I use?
Manuscripts must follow the official journal template, available on the submission platform. Submissions that do not meet template requirements will be returned during the admin review stage.
What types of papers does JOPE accept?
JOPE accepts original research articles, systematic reviews, empirical studies, theoretical frameworks, and case studies within the journal's scope of prompt engineering and human–AI interaction.
Will my accepted paper be published immediately?
Yes. Accepted articles are published online immediately upon acceptance, ahead of the formal volume and issue compilation.
